Dave Rowntree l'a confirmé à l'occasion d'une interview donnée au NME : c'est au grand complet, Graham Coxon inclus, que Blur passeront une semaine en studio durant le mois de septembre. Avec, à l'issue de cette période, la décision éventuelle d'enregistrer un éventuel nouvel album.

Blur WILL reunite next month says Alex James

Bassist tells NME.COM Graham Coxon is onboard for sessions

Blur are to set to record together as a four-piece for the first time since 2002, when guitarist Graham Coxon left the band.

Speaking to NME.COM, Blur bassist Alex James explained that the band are all in touch again and plan to record together - with the aim of making an album - in the near future.

"It's going to happen soon," James explained, speaking of imminent recording sessions. "It's looking promising.

"It's important for us emotionally not to leave Blur as an unfinished thing. It could be good musically as well."

Blur drummer Dave Rowntree had previously told NME.COM that the band were set to get together this month, but James explained that it was more likely that they would record in October.

"I texted Graham this morning and got one back," he revealed. "I saw Damon (Albarn) about a month ago and I spoke to Dave yesterday. We're all talking."

Hinting at what a new album might sound like, James said: "Good guitars would be good. But I mainly talk to Graham about mandolins and prog music."

Coxon departed during the early sessions for the group's last album, 'Think Tank', which came out in 2003.

10 Sept 07 - Alex James has given 6 Music an exclusive update on a Blur reunion and the follow-up to Think Tank.

Alex reckons Graham Coxon – who left five years ago over musical differences – is ready to re-join the band. Speaking on The Music Week he said:

“Funnily enough, people have been talking to each other. I don’t think Graham and Dave have spoken for quite some time and there’s been a flurry of texting and long chats which is good. I’m very hopeful.”

Alex reckons that, on reflection, they all needed a break:

“It’s actually been brilliant to have a bit of time apart from each other. I think we all needed it as people. I think we’d all be unbearable if we’d carried on living that kind of lifestyle. It’s given us all time to find ourselves a little bit.”

Alex suggests the outside projects they've all undertaken have helped renew their interest in working together again:

“Everyone’s found something to do. Writing the book made me realise how much we kind of do, actually, really love each other. So many bands don't, and they've been together who’ve for a long time. Look at The Who. They hate each other!

“Pink Floyd don’t like each other. I don’t think The Rolling Stones really like each other that much. But I think that we all do, actually, kind of deep down somewhere, want to be friends and like each other.

“What’s great is that none of us need to do it now. We’ve all found other things to do so we can all approach things rationally and say ‘Would this be good?’ and I think it would be emotionally for all of us. It’s a shame Graham wasn’t involved in the last record, now he feels he’s ready. And its quite exciting actually.”

Scenario 1 (classique) - les retards ne sont pas tolérés :
Graham va arriver 5 min en retard au studio et Damon lui dit (gentiment) de se casser.

Scenario 2 (classique) - divergences musicales :
Damon fait écouter une démo qu'il a enregistrée sur son 4 pistes. Graham trouve ça pourri, impossible de gratouiller dessus. Damon lui dit de se casser.

Scenario 3 - rat des villes, rat des champs :
Au bout de 5 min de jam, Alex se prend une part de camembert.
Graham le réprimande. Damon lui reproche de n'avoir aucune tolérance et lui dit de se casser.

Scenario 4 - l'hôpital se fout de la charité :
Graham arrive avec des démos et des textes, il veut qu'elles soient sur le prochain album.
Damon lui dit qu'il a trop d'ego, c'est lui qui a toujours chanté et ça changera pas.
Graham insiste. On (Damon) lui dit de se casser.

Scenario 5 - tout va pour le mieux dans le meilleur des mondes :
Un @#! d'album (meilleur que 13) sort dans les bacs en décembre 2009.

Sinon ça valait bien une petite news - bien qu'il n'y ait eu que confirmation et précision des dates - la nouvelle info est quand même planquée en 4° page, pas forcément évident pour tout le monde.

Je verrouille ce sujet.
